2008 Triangle Paddlefest

Saturday, September 27th
Lake Crabtree County Park

The 2008 Triangle Paddlefest is a kayak and canoe race on Lake Crabtree between Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina. The event is designed for marathon racing boats, touring kayaks, and flatwater racing canoes and will consist of laps around a marked 3 mile loop. There is a longer race primarily for marathon boats (four laps, 12 miles) and a shorter race primarily for touring kayaks and flatwater racing canoes (two laps, 6 miles) though entrants may choose either distance. There will be two mass starts a few minutes apart. The winner of each race is the first paddler in a given class to cross the finish line. For the marathon kayak classes, the race often comes down to a final sprint to the finish line after 12 miles of neck and neck competition.
